Cycling season, over or just beginning?

well for most of the northern hemisphere the cycling world is enjoying it's annual siesta. The '07 tour de france route was announced yesterday, and no big shockers in the route, a late 1st TT (stage 13) after two hard days in the mountains will prevent any big changes from happening. So it's going to be interesting if Basso and Ullrich can't compete, if they are there, well it will be a duel, and maybe a really good one.

For us lowly racers the '07 season is just starting. I got my computrainer a week ago and set it up quickly and with few headaches. The thing is cool and makes getting on it a little easier. I officially started my training for next year on monday the 23rd. I'll slowly be adding my sweet spot work on the trainer, trying to get out for longish rides on the weekend, and hitting the gym a little harder to build up some lost strength. The big goal though for the winter is to build a strong aerobic base and drop about 20 lbs. Coach tells me if i work hard i'll see a 10% improvement with my fitness and add to that the 20lbs and i'll be a different rider. Hopefully be able to upgrade and do some good things at some of the bigger races here in the East. I'm going to use this blog to update things on training and racing and as a place to just vent my thoughts and frustrations. Right now there aren't many frustrations so life is good, hope it stays that way.

New WLTV revolution?

WLTV or "Wine Library TV" is a video blog that every oenophile should be familiar with. Gary V, the director of operations at Wine Library (a huge wine store in NJ) puts out a daily show that has him tasting 4+ wines a day, usually with a theme, but also some grab-bag shows. The first time i saw this show it was great, Gary tasting wines that i could order right through his store or go to the store and pick out. First i thought this is just a way for this dude to sell more wine, but after a while you see he is giving his honest opinon. I'd say more often than not he is giving wines that he has in stock in his store a big PASS. So it's a good show that most of you should check out. I'm hooked, i get to see a tasting of 4 wines a day, and gives me some good directions for trying out new stuff (i'm big on his recommendation of Central Otago's Pinot Noir's). T
